The next adventure.
It’s 6:05 pm. Dusk is right outside my window and as I gaze out into the pink hued night, I am reminded of just how far we’ve come. One year ago, I had a concept; just an idea in my mind about creating an amazing work environment in what used to be my manufacturing building for Tolteq. I started Tolteq in 2003 in Cedar Park, Texas. It was my first plunge into entrepreneurship. I was scared to death but just like all of my other adventures, I was confident that if I focused, worked smart and hard I could achieve success. The success of Tolteq was beyond my wildest dreams. We sold high tech oilfield tools, which we designed and manufactured all over the world. After 13 years of running out to oil fields, testing equipment, celebrating wins, and understanding the losses, I knew it was time to sell but I didn’t know what adventure would be next for me.
Tolteq had provided a second family.
We had grown to over 98 employees. We were together through ups and downs. Our employees were invested in us and we too were invested in them. I watched my team work tirelessly on the concrete manufacturing floor. Their mission to design, manufacture and support the most reliable and technically advanced Measurement While Drilling tools in the world.
This land where Toltec once sat speaks to me. I hear the families laughing from our company picnic days. I hear Henry, the ever-watchful red-tailed hawk that sat on a barren tree limb outside my office window, screech as he swoops down for his next meal. I see the silhouette of Harry, the ghostly quiet horned owl who would survey the land from the peak of our steel roof. I hear the rustle of Hank, the blue Heron who nests in our trees along the creek and then lunches in our nearby pond. And soon, I hope to hear you…the new and excited members of Innovation WorkSpaces.
Transforming this building this past year from a manufacturing operation into a beautifully architected coworking space has been so inspiring.

No longer do you have to worry if you have the facilities to attract a talented workforce or impress potential clients. No longer do you have to worry that you’re walking into a social hour every hour when all you really want to do is produce good work. We’ve even got a Creekside Kitchen area with tables where you can literally take your work outside or leave it behind for a minute while you breathe in your peaceful surroundings.
